National Geographic has taken on a project that could change the world. Together and with the help of many scientific experts, they will find the true answers to where we have come from and how did they get here. This project is titled "The Genographic Project". The Genographic project is a project that involves world wide participation. Scientists have been placed around the world where they will encounter indigenous groups of people trying to find an answer to their question. They will do this by taking a sample of DNA from people from these groups hoping to find an answer. They would also need as many samples of DNA from people around the world so that they may build a family tree of sorts so that we may trace our existence back to the beginning. Scientists belive that when DNA is manipulated through the life cycle, many change while others stay the same. If they could find those strands that stay the same between us and the many other people around the world, they will be one step closer to finding out this mystery.

When War meets Video Games

War video games are so popular now because gamers can" experience” a part of the reality of the experience at the front line battle combat. Games such as Call of Duty, Brother in Arms, Medal of Honor are examples of games that deal with wars. War video games give challenges to the gamer in that it gives you challenges in each level, making it more exciting to play. But what really makes the war games more enjoyable is the game play style. The games have characters; weapons, settings and etc. that look very detailed. Some people may also enjoy the game’s intensity as it is a slight reflection of how much horror there was during the real war days. Personally, I own war games and think that war games and other games with violence can be a bad influence to kid and teenagers. Sometimes you get so absorbed into the game you can neglect your work. As a drastic example, the shooting which took place in Montreal was apparently due to this student practicing in war games. So, games could influence people in a negative way. However, I think that people do have control power, and they should be able to decide what is reality or fiction. So, even as great a so, even as great as the graphics of the games are, they should still be able to know that it is not fake and that violence is not as colorful as it shows on the TV screen.

An IPOD classroom?

I think i would learn well by using an ipod because if i miss a class i would be able to record and listen to it later. And we can watch it anytime, anywhere we want and we have the freedom to pause, stop, rewind, fast forward so that we can understand better. It would be a good thing to have because people have ipods and play there music everyday going to school, on the bus or in the car. People feel good when they can listen to things on their own.Sometimes people get distracted because they look around, they talk and do things that’s not work. An ipod would help this problem because you can stop the lecture when you are distracted and start it when your not. Some advantages of it is that if the students miss a seminar, they can watch the video and do thier work later. If your teacher is away or the student is away the students can get onto thier ipods and participate in the seminar then. Some disadvantages is missing a seminar because of low battery, not being aware of your surroundings, and students may not be really listening to the seminar. This can also lead to procrastination, since the seminar is just ready all the time to be viewed. This may even lead to people to stop going to class, the whole point of education is going to class afterall.

With the GOOD, comes the BAD

In today’s fast paced world, technological progress, changes, and advances are happening everyday. Occasionally the technological progress, changes, and advances are both good and bad.

There are many forms of technological progresses that have made life easier. Cell phone are now standardized with cameras, allowing us to take a photo anywhere, anytime. The negative things about cell phone cameras is that it is not the best camera to use in terms of quality, but it can also lead to an issue of intrusion of privacy - you can publish your picturs online, or people can sneak pictures of you while you are unaware. Another feature of the cell phone is text messeging. It is like phone calling, the positive things about it is that we can talk to people discretely, maybe when you're in class and they're somewhere else. It also cost less money then talking on the phone as it doesn't take minutes out of the limit that the phone company gives you. The negative things about it is that we are actually not communicating and the whole point of having a cell phone is to actually talk to someone.
Portable gaming is also very popular nowadays because it is very fun to use, the positive things of it is that we can use it anywhere for example on the bus when you're going to school or work as opposed to having to be restricted to a television or computer to play. The disadvantages of it is that it can be really addictive and distracting
Another form of technology is the MP3. It is a type of music technology, the positive things about it is we can listen to all the music we want to anywhere and it can hold more songs then CD's. The negative things about it is that the battery dies if it is used for a long period of time and if we put it too loud, it can cause some distraction.
Instead of desktop computers, technology has created laptops. The positive of it is people can use it anywhere at anytime, and it is very convienient. The negative things about is it can easily malfunction by accidents. Blogging is a way to express yourself and talk about anything you want to. The positive thing about it is you can say what you want on the blog. The negative thing is people can write back saying what they want.
In conclusion, technology is good because of all the uses of it and it is more convienient.
